  • Older travelers

The friendliness of the staff and the location

The hotel is currently being renovated but the rooms are in need of serious refurbishment. I would have liked to be advised in advance or a discount offered.

  • Group of friends

the lady on the reception was lovely..however generally we waited a long time for service, the rooms had damp up the walls and water marks on the cielings...there was banging all throught the night from the winds knocking the windows which werent secure. i dont like to complain but myself, partner and friends who stayed here all agreed it wasnt what we expected for the money we paid. we expected more.

just the state of some of some the walls and ceiling in the rooms

  • Single

The location. The sense of romantic decay and faded glory.

The food was disgusting and the service slow. Breakfast was cold on serving. The light fittings in the room didn't work.

  • Older travelers

The downstairs bar was nicely decorated and furnished, and staff friendly

Room was terrible. Draught from windows, Floor in bathroom patched up with laminate (Glue marks everywhere), no working iron, no remote control for TV, not very clean. On departure went for a coffee into downstairs bar and coffee machine was broken.

  • Single

The closeness of the seafront was wonderful, ease of using public transport and adjacent attractions. The shower in bathroom was wonderful, I hear that plans are afoot to refurbish the hotel, leave the showers alone!

Complaints of lack of lamp in dressingtable lamp and a broken overhead bedside light even though entered into the 'Housekeepers Books' were not attended too during my stay. The offer of a Continenal Breakfast at less than a Full Breakfast price would be desirable.

  • Group of friends

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful about local information, transport and taxis. One of the staff even brought a bottle of wine up to our room for us after we had paid for it! The breakfast was really lovely. Even though we pitched up at the end of breakfast the food was still warm, cooked nicely, and very tasty! It is a lovely breakfast room overlooking the sea. Nice sea views, close to castle! Perfect location for seaside holiday and touring around.

There were no restuarants in the area so we had no dinner as we arrived back from the castle at 12 midnight, and there were no sandwiches/cold food to buy. We had to rely on barsnacks, crisps, peanuts.

  • Couple

The location was great for the places we needed to visit. There was also plenty of free parking too reserved for hotel residents. The exterior, reception and lounge area looked like it had been refurbished/decorated recently and lookg good.

The decor of the corridors and rooms require updating. They are old fashioned and a bit tatty in places.

  • Older travelers

Excellent position. Friendly staff. Reasonable accomodaton and food prices.Peaceful night's sleep.

No fruit apart from orange juice at breakfast.

  • Older travelers

we hen arrived to check in room was already allocated but the lovely lady on reception offered to move us to a lower floor with excellent sea veiws was a relly nice gestur

  • Older travelers

The building has excellent potential in both style and location

On arrival signage was broken giving bad external appearance. Room very shoddy and dirty. Bathroom door didnt shut. Tv didnt work (probably hadnt since the 80's). Electrics looked dangerous, one socket was broken. No maid service and "clean" towels and coffee and tea were left outside bedroom door on dirty carpet. Breakfast room had dirty tablecloths. Staff were not attentive, we were not served any coffee with our breakfast despite several requests. And to top it all both my husband and I got bitten by fleas.

  • Older travelers

great location, clean rooms, the staff was very nice good value for money.will be goping back

loud noise like venterlasion threw the night kept us awake .vert annoying

  • Couple

This hotel is in an excellent position with good views of the sea. Helpful and pleasant staff.

Tired looking decor but still good standard of cleanliness.

  • Single

The staff were excellent, very helpful, cheerful and friendly. I was there for a wedding reception and was impressed how keen the staff were to make sure everything was just right for the wedding party. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Single Room I booked, did in fact have a double bed. The Hotel is well situated, being right on the Sea Front and Newcastle is easily accessible by Metro where there is first class shopping. From there it is easy to get to the famous Metro Centre. There is a Sea Life Centre next door to the Hotel, making it ideal for families and anyone wanting to explore Northumberland. There is more than adequate (free) on site parking.

The room wasn't quite as clean as I'd like, the bedside lamps were dusty, the paint was peeling off the window frames and the windows rattled when the wind got up. The bed was quite hard with ridges, I slept on top of the duvet, using a blanket from the cupboard to cover up. Also the cover on the ironing board was ripped. Having said all that, as I understand it, the Hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment and presumably the room I had hadn't yet been started on.

  • Couple

I stayed at the park hotel for 1 night with my wife as we were going to a concert in sunderland .The staff were helpful and the reception area and loby were clean and looked as if they had been redecorated however did feel that the room was in need of a bit of tlc it was clean but the carpet had burn from iron on it and just little things that could have been fixed etc the shower was not very powerful however had a good night sleep and was at a good price so worth a stay here

  • Couple

The cleanliness of the room and the girl on reception on arrival was fab!

Needs some modernisation for the price, plentiful hot water from the tap on the sink but this wasnt the case from the shower
